The General Certificate is built around what an employer actually needs someone to be able to do. Over ten days you work through four areas, with the practical assessment carried out on a real workplace rather than a case study.
- Managing health and safety effectively, and the part it plays in how an organisation runs
- Identifying workplace hazards and choosing controls that hold up in practice
- Measuring whether what you put in place is working
- The key international standards the qualification is built on
Who it is for
This qualification is relevant to every workplace. It suits managers, supervisors and anyone who carries health and safety responsibilities as part of their job, whether or not that is their job title.
It is also the usual starting point for people building a career in health and safety, because it is recognised by employers well beyond Brunei.
Assessment and certification
Unit one
A 24-hour open book examination testing your ability to analyse a scenario, weigh it up and apply what you have learnt, rather than recall it.
Unit two
A 3-hour practical risk assessment carried out in a workplace, assessing what you can do rather than what you can write.
Your certificate
Pass both units and NEBOSH UK issues the International General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety.
