We are pleased to announce that Cortex Training and Development is now a fully accredited NEBOSH Learning Partner. From here on we will be offering the NEBOSH International General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety: for many people, the first real step into a career in occupational health and safety.

NEBOSH is a UK awarding body whose qualifications are recognised by employers and governments worldwide. Its examinations are set and marked to the same standard in every country, which is what makes the certificate portable, and what protects its value for the people who hold it.
In Brunei, many employers look for the NEBOSH GIC when recruiting health and safety professionals. It also satisfies the certification requirement for a person to act as a Workplace Safety and Health Officer under the Workplace Safety and Health Act, Chapter 277, the legislation formerly known as the Workplace Safety and Health Order, 2009.
The GIC is a thorough introduction to managing occupational safety and health, and a sound foundation both for people new to the field and for those looking to move further into it.
What has changed since
Quite a lot, in the years since this announcement. We have since added IOSH (UK) Managing Safely, the CIEH (UK) food safety certificates and our Chapter 277 course, and one of our learners went on to win NEBOSH’s award for the highest distinction worldwide.
NEBOSH also revised the General Certificates for 2026. If you are enrolling now, our syllabus update explains what that means in practice.

Updated in August 2026. The Brunei legislation referred to above has since been revised into the Workplace Safety and Health Act, Chapter 277. Originally published in September 2021.
